Take a pleasurable ride through Salado to visit the many “pocket gardens” located throughout the Village.
Pocket Gardens are a creative collaboration with Keep Salado Beautiful, Master Naturalists and Master Gardeners and local businesses to create new “pocket gardens” or renovate existing gardens, using beautiful, low maintenance, and drought-tolerant native plants. They serve to educate and make the Village of Salado more inviting and enjoyable for our community and visitors, through the improvement and refinement of natural resources. More than just beautiful venues, the Pocket Gardens are a part of our Texas Heritage.
Keep Salado Beautiful a non-profit organization promotes and provides environmental education and projects to improve the quality, beauty and cleanliness of the Village of Salado by working with citizens, neighborhoods and communities; and it is staffed entirely by volunteers. Salado showcases the beautiful native plants of Texas as well as original art from local artists.
The Gardens Tour will visit the gardens throughout Salado to see the lovely vistas, but also to educate the importance of utilizing native plants that benefit not just the human visitors, but also the many native species of birds, and other creatures that make Texas their home.
Stroll the ruins of what once was a thriving place of learning for both men and women. Currently tended by the granddaughter of a former student of the college. Salado College, and later Thomas Arnold High School, is now an outdoor learning lab for students and adults
The gardens of Salado are not just for our pleasure, but also the many animal and insect visitors to our area including our local herd of deer, and migrating kaleidoscope of monarch butterflies.
Join our Gardens Tour for an easy, pleasurable ride through the lovely Village of Salado and the beautiful and unique plant vistas. Enjoy the Garden tour on eBike for only $19.
